Showcase Sunday 30th Nov 08

It's a very full showcase this week :)

Remember last week how I said it's great to see the versatile ways in which you use our stamps. Well here's a gorgeous card using the flower girl. Amanda Fergusson cleverly turned it into an adorable cheerleader - how cute is this card!!

Check out Amanda's blog here!

Here are four beautiful Christmas cards by Kathryn McAllister. I just love the warmth of her water colouring and her accents! Here's Kathryn's blog!

Now here's a humdinger of a card by Tracey Dee using a couple of elzy fairytale stamps. Isn't this just AMAZING!!!

 Here's a link to Tracey's blog!

Thanks so much to Amanda, Kathryn and Tracey for sharing your wonderful creations! Anyone can be featured on the Sunday showcases. All you have to do is email me a piccy with your full name and blog addy if you have one :)

Have a great Sunday!

28 November 2008

Go Kim!!

DT member Kim has some gorgeous elzy cards published in Complete Cardmaking magazine (issue 14). You can check out her blog for a peek at the article. I'll be off to get myself a copy tomorrow! :)

I hope everyone has a fab weekend. I'll see you on Sunday for a fantabitooby showcase!!

hugs,

Online shop now closed

Ordering in the online shop has now been disabled while we make a start on moving premises however, you can still view our products.

Our expected 'reopening' date will be 5th January. I know it's a long time to wait but it will be worth it, promise! :)
Things will be going on as normal here on the blog. As well as our advent calendar giveaway coming up, we will have sneak peeks of new designs in the run up to the new year!!!

27 November 2008

Please remember that tomorrow (28th) is the last day to order any stamps before we close for our big move!

As it depends on my web designer being available to put the website on hold, it will probably be around 5pm (UK time) that the holding page will be put up so I'm afraid you won't have the evening to place any last minute orders.

Thanks for your understanding,

Ornament tutorial by Charlene

As promised, here's Charlene's tutorial for her adorable ornament. I can see myself having a go at this - imagine all the fun little treats you can put inside!

 Ornament Tut 8

The ornament is super easy and I thought this would be a fun little Christmas craft project to do with your kids.  If you are having a Christmas party this would be a sweet little keepsake for them to take home.  Ok....let's get started.

 Ornament Tut 1

First---I must tell you I am so not computer savvy so I have no idea how to do a template on line.  This diagram shows how easy it is though.

Cut a perfect triangle with exactly 7" sides.  Mark the centres at 3.5" where you will score the inner triangle.

Ornament Tut 2

I actually glued two pieces of paper on top of each other for my project.  The patterned paper for the outside and the white card stock for the interior.

Ornament Tut 3Now stamp the white card stock~~~turning it in to a colouring page for your kid-lets.  How fun is that?!!  The Elzybells stamps I used above are:

Winter Song ~~  Tiny Snowflake ~~  Holly ~~ Season's Tweetings

Ornament Tut 4

At this point I did score the inner triangle but you can wait until you are finished colouring it.

Ornament Tut 5

Time to colour!  I LOVE these Elzybells from the UK!! Such a GREAT size for colouring and paper piecing!

Ornament Tut 6

Punch holes at each point of the triangle.

Fold on scored lines.

Ornament Tut 7

Now choose the items that you will decorate the finished product with and embellish to your hearts desire.

Ornament Tut 8a

Ta-da!!  And this is my finished project.  I am so putting this on my tree once I get it up and decorated.  Since we are less than a month from Christmas that will be very soon.

My only regret is that I hid Elzybell inside!!  She's too cute to hide.  If you do this project with your kids I think they would be so pleased to see their coloured handiwork facing outwards.

Another idea is to send the stamped and scored card stock out as a Christmas card.  Send it to your niece's and nephews or the neighborhood kids.  You could punch the holes and include some ribbon for them to hang once they have finished colouring it.  I am sure anyone would love to receive a Christmas Card Ornament project!!

I hope you all enjoyed my little project and tutorial.  Have the best day ever!

Many thanks to Charlene for a great & easy to follow tutorial!

DT challenge - a double whamy!

Challenge 7 - DT member Michelle Short gave us this great sketch and we have some fantastic samples.

Here's mine!

I digressed with this one so it's not quite like the sketch but I'm pleased with it. Although I think a dusky pink bed cover would blend better with the background colours.

Supplies:
Stamps: 10-082-J Christmas Dreams,  20-006-CD Everyday Greetings
Striped paper: Bo Bunny Press (daydream stripe)
Paper pieced curtains: Cloud 9 (floral cocoa)
Striped ribbon: Basic Grey Infuse collection
Other: snowflake brads & adhesive pearls

Here are a few of my favourite DT creations!

Angel Rivera

Rachel Hope Baird

Jeanne Streiff

There are lots more fabulous cards in the challenge gallery in the right sidebar!!

Now, we've decided to flip the format of the challenges. From now on, the DT and I will set each challenge by sharing our creations for inspiration first and then you can play along for the following week. All you have to do is add a link to your creation in the comments (there's no need to email your pictures).

So to get the ball rolling here's the next challenge...

Challenge 8 - A christmas ornament / decorative item

Here's what I came up with - at Christmas when you have lots of family around, there's always someone who has a little sniffle so I decorated a paper mache tissue box!

Unfortunately, you can't see it in the photos but I subtly sponged some brown ink along the edges of the pink trims.

Supplies:
Stamps: 10-029-H Large flake 1, 10-031-D Small flake 1,  10-033-A Tiny snowflake
Paper mache tissue box (bought from hobbycraft)
Brown acrylic paint
Brown & Pink Colourbox chalk ink pads
Ribbon & buttons: Basic Grey Infuse collection
Other: oval & long rectangles nestabilities
Snowflake punch (make unknown)

You can see what the DT have come up with in the challenge gallery. My favourite creation is by Charlene and she will be sharing a great tutorial for this fun ornament later today!

I would love to see what decorative items you can create. Just add a link to your creation to this post!

LizzieAnne Designs are one of my most favourite stamp companies in the US - I have been in awe of their design work and website for a long time. So can you imagine my surprise when I saw the sweetest card on Tricia's (aka Lizzie) blog!

I can't believe that Tricia from LizzieAnne Designs likes my stamps! What an honour, I just had to share :) and how well do our stamps go together, huh?!
For those who aren't familiar with LizzieAnne Designs, here's their fab website!

The feedback is great so far

Many thanks to those who have taken our questionnaire so far. You've mentioned some interesting things :)

Please if you haven't done it yet, it only takes a few minutes and is invaluable in helping me offer the service you want.

** If you would like something improved / changed, please elaborate. I've had a couple of forms where it has been indicated that something can be improved, but without further info - I don't know in what way it needs to be made better, lol.

Thanks again!! :)
