I think these two cards are my favourite of all Sue's creations. The red and white is so crisp and clean and the colouring is amazing.

Guest designer week 2!!

As I said last week, Sue has really outdone herself with her beautiful creations as September's guest designer. If you liked Sue's creations last week, you will **love** her stunning Christmas cards I will be sharing this week, what a wonderful way to welcome autumn!

 

I love the glitter on the cardigan and stocking and the colouring is awesome.

What item would you not be without?

Cuttlebug and embossing folders. Oh, wait that's two. Also the scor-pal....So hard to name just one.

 

Do you have a specific process when making a card... Do you plan your card before starting or does it take shape as you create?

Generally, when I see a stamp design, an idea usually pops into my head. I will start the coloring process

and then find papers, ribbon and embellishments to match. Sometimes, they turn out completely different than the original idea. Once in a while, I will be inspired by the background paper and find a stamp to use with it. I have created many "happy accidents" over the years.

What do you like to see on a card?

I like to see great coloring and imaginative card layouts or folds. That inspires me to add my own touches to make it my own.

Do you have a favourite colour scheme?

Pink, Pink, Pink and sometimes blue. Wink

Actually, pastels are my favorite.

 

What's your favourite technique?

Magic Colored Pencil a.k.a. Gamsol Magic I taught a coloring technique using Bruynzeel Pastel Pencils and Beckett Expression Cardstock for 12 years, and LOVED it. I took a 3 year break from stamping and then decided to try the MCPT in 2007 and WOWOW! I fell in love with stamping all over again.

Would you say you have a particular stamping style?

Clean and simple. I love ribbon and a minimum of embellishments on a card. I like the coloring to be the focal point.

 

Where do you get your inspiration?

There are lots of great card galleries and blogs these days. When I started out in the early '90's, I saw ideas in magazines and stores. I started my gallery just to keep track of my own work, and then in 1997 my sons bought me my website, HeartPrints.net , and it has been a lot of fun "meeting" stampers from all over the world. The stamping industry has changed tremendously in 20 years. Back in the olden days, before You-tube, I even taught virtual classes in special forums to encourage others to stamp

It's guest designer week!!

I am very pleased to introduce to you our guest designer for September - the extremely talented Sue Nelson from the USA!

Sue submitted several cards to our showcase and with her amazing talent I just had to ask if she would do a spot as guest designer. Not only did Sue say yes!! but you will see that Sue has really enjoyed herself. I have lots of inspiring cards to share, so many in fact that we are having a guest designer TWO week special - next week I will be sharing nothing but Sue's gorgeous Christmas creations! With summer sadly coming to a close, there's no better way to welcome autumn. I am absolutely positive you will enjoy Sue's creations and be inspired as I have.

 

How long have you been stamping / how did you get into stamping?

I have been stamping, designing, teaching and demoing since 1990. I first saw an advertisement for Stampendous in a magazine and decided to find some and try them. Back then, stamps and supplies were hard to find and we had NO internet! GASP!

 

Do you enjoy any other crafting hobbies?

Oh, yes, many other hobbies. Sewing, painting, decorating, jewelry making, and scrapbooking, to name a few. Except for sewing, stamping has captured my attention AND my wallet the longest.
